'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Westwood Would Like to Stay!

It`s been muted this week that Barry Fry would like those twelve on the transfer list to move on, as soon as possible, as long as a deal agreeable to all parties can be made.

However, one of the dozen listed players, Chris Westwood, believes that he still has a future at Peterborough and would like the opportunity to prove it.

Speaking to the local media, Chris remarked,

'I don't see any reason why I couldn't play in the Championship. It will obviously be a tougher league with stronger sides than we have come up against in the past two years, but I feel I could do a job."

'I watched Wolves a few times last season and there is certainly nothing at that level that we would need to be frightened about."

'As far as I am concerned I'm still a Peterborough player and until that changes I will do my best for the club."

'I am very happy at Peterborough and still have another year on my contract, but I do want to be playing football and I believe that was on the gaffer's mind when he said I could go."

So the $64,000 question relates to how often Westwood would like to play as opposed to how much pitch time he`s likely to get!

Continuing on the move theme, the option the club would like him to take, he continued.

'I haven't really spoken to my agent much this summer and I certainly haven't had any contact with any other clubs as yet."

'The only way I will consider an offer is if it is right for me - and I am not talking about money."

'A lot of people accused me and Dean Keates of only coming to Posh for financial reasons after we had won League Two with Walsall, but I can guarantee that wasn't the case."

'The club showed us a hell of a lot of ambition and that is a big thing for me. I have always been at clubs that have ambition and want to achieve.'

So, would you, the Posh support like Chris to stay or is it time for the lad to move on?
