'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Harry`s Absolutely Gutted!

A perfect example of how cruel a game football can be is perfectly illustrated by the case of Alfie Potter.

Many of you will remember Alfie becoming a little hero when he scored for Havant and Waterlooville in that epic FA Cup tie against Liverpool, at Anfield.

It should have propelled Alfie onto a career in football that would be the envy of many, instead he now finds himself, in hard financial times, looking for a new club.

Alfie was one of the twelve players released by Posh and although he had an inkling, after spending periods on loan, he`d be released it still came hard as he explained to the local media remarking,

'Although I suspected it was coming, when I was told I was to be transfer listed it was still a massive disappointment to me.'

'After my time at Havant and Waterlooville I came back to Posh and did okay in a few games and I thought I had done enough to stick around after having a good pre-season with the club.

'But it didn't turn out like that for me. The club brought in Sergio Torres and I went back out on loan to Kettering.

'And I thought I did well there. I made more than 50 appearances and feel I have adjusted to playing first team football week in, week out.

'But I cannot really question Darren Ferguson's judgement as he has done fantastically well taking the club up to the Championship in just two seasons.

'It has still left me feeling gutted though that I will not be a part of it all with Peterborough.'

Let`s all hope that Alfie has a slice of good luck and finds a new club soon!
