'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Posh - Mackail-Smith - Aiming for 25 (again)

After hearing that the Posh owner, Darragh MacAnthony had heaped praise on his performances last season, our top scorer, Craig Mackail-Smith, was quick to offer a reply.

Talking to the local media, Craig had a lot to say, firstly about the praise from the chairman and the challenge of scoring in a higher grade of football,

'It is always nice to hear things like that and I am going to pick up that gauntlet and say I think I can get 25 goals."

'I am determined to prove myself in the Championship and strikers do that by scoring goals and that is what I have always done since I have been at this club."

'I know it is going to be even harder against better teams but every time I play or train I am looking to improve on what I do."

And as for the missed chances he sometimes gets a little stick for,

'People sometimes criticise me for missing chances and I have heard stuff about my one-on-ones. But I have been working hard on that side of my game as well as the way I hold the ball up to bring other players in."

'But I must be doing something right as I got 26 goals last season and the chairman is saying nice things about me!"

But in a true show of a united team spirit, Craig finished,

'It is not just about me though. All the lads have been incredible and will be working hard to raise it again for next season.'

So, what`s your opinion, will Craig hit something akin to 25 goals next season?
