Posh - Darren on Westwood Decision!

After the champagne corks had been popped Darren Ferguson knew he had to start to make changes to prepare for next season.

The Championship will be an altogether different proposition to League One, the squad need to be better, tighter and have no passengers.

But, dispensing with twelve players surprised me, especially dispensing of the services of Chris Westwood.

After having done the deed, Darren Ferguson was quick to explain just how hard it was to decide to ditch Westwood, remarking to the local media,

'Telling players they can leave is never a nice thing to have to do and my personal circumstances made it difficult for me to go about it the way I wanted."

'But I have to make tough decisions and letting Chris go was a hard one. He has been a brilliant player for us and one of my best signings."

'Chris needs and wants regular first team football and I can't guarantee that next season. I have no doubts at all that there will be plenty of clubs after him now he's available."

Although we suggested Hartlepool might be interested, our friends over at Vital Hartlepool suggest otherwise but like Darren says, we`re sure there`ll be no shortage of takers, we`ll do our best to keep you informed.
