There is nothing worse than a long delay as you wait for a player, whether he be one of yours or one of the oppositions, to be carried away on a stretcher.
The longer the delay is the more the severity of the injury seems to be the adopted philosophy.
Therefore, when Gabriel Zakuani, took approximately seven minutes to be carted away the other night, we all feared the worst.
Thankfully, the tests at the hospital proved those fears were ill-placed but it was still a worrying time.
Now the dust has settled, Zakuani has spoken out about how the injury was achieved and his thoughts on the matter remarking to the local media,
'It is an understatement to say I am massively relieved there is no fracture or break because it could easily have been a hell of a lot worse."
'I had to get up above their lad to head the ball back to Joe Lewis, but I couldn't get my arms down and ended up landing on my neck."
'I felt sure when I landed that I had done something really serious because my neck took the full impact of the fall."
'It was horrible being down on the pitch for so long and all I could hear were the phyios and paramedics telling me not to move my neck."
'You just have to listen to the professionals in a situation like that and thankfully it turned out not to be as serious as everyone feared."
We`ll echo those thoughts and we hope to see you back in a Posh shirt as soon as possible.
