After the thrilling win in midweek, Posh`s automatic promotion hopes took a knock this afternoon when they lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield.
The defeat was made all the more galling by the fact that one of our rivals, MK Dons, enjoyed a fine win at Cheltenham.
The game was decided by a solitary strike from the Huddersfield hero, Michael Collins.
For the fixture, Darren Ferguson opted for a starting line up that had no surprises in it and the travelling support full expected Posh to come home with the three points.
Sadly football isn`t always like that and in a grudging sort of way you have to give Huddersfield credit for the goal that settled the game. It was a flowing move that saw Collins find Jevons who fed Cadamarteri for the ex-Everton player to feed the ball to the very player who had started the run to place the ball beyond Joe Lewis in the Posh goal.
After the break Posh were far more of an attacking threat and were unlucky not to get something out of the game. Shaun Batt saw an effort fly across the face of the Huddersfield goal, the Terriers keeper, Smithies, blocked well from Craig Mackail-Smith and you hoped it was only a matter of time before that equaliser came.
But Smithies was in inspired form and somehow kept out an effort from Aaron McLean with one hand, it was then you just knew it was going to be one of those days but at least our lads showed heart, commitment and a fight for a battle.
