The 3rd round of the FA Cup will always be a special occasion.
Show me a football fan who doesn`t look forward to the draw. The fact that we drew a Premier League side out of the hat albeit a struggling one at that, makes our tie with West Bromwich all the more intriguing.
The fact that they were the side that dumped us out of both domestic cup competitions last season gives us the perfect opportunity to gain revenge.
After all, it`s fair to say that we`re a different team some twelve months down the line, we`ve moved up a division and we`re handily placed to gate-crash the promotion party, indeed, there is every chance we could be in the same division as West Brom next season - the Championship.
Therefore, we travel to the Hawthorns full of optimism and our midfielder, Dean Keates, quoted in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, had this to say about the forthcoming clash,
'It's obviously a very, very difficult game for us, but we are a much better side now than we were 12 months ago."
'We just need to go there and play our own game and not worry about them. We won't be expected to win and that will suit us."
'The lads are really looking forward to it. I've played a few derbies for Walsall at West Brom and it's a great ground for atmosphere."
'We didn't do well at Leicester in front of a big crowd so we are determined to put on a better show for our fans this time. We've responded well to that defeat at Leicester which also shows there is plenty of character and spirit in the side to go with the quality."
'I am sure we can win the game. The players are all quietly confident.'
And so Dean are we!
