Posh - Ferguson Beaten Again!

Earlier this week we reported that Darren Ferguson was in contention for the League One manager of the month award.

It`s the second time he had been nominated and we thought he stood more than a fair chance of winning it.

I guess it wasn`t to be!

This month the jury decided that the MK Dons boss, Roberto Di Matteo was the worthy winner.

Di Matteo, something of a virgin in this management game graciously accepted his reward and remarked,

"I don`t really deserve this; it should have gone to Darren Ferguson!"

Well not really but we can dream on can`t we?

His actual remarks were,

'Really this is recognition of the hard work of a group of players. They are dedicated and professional. I get the award but it is for them."

'You have players coming in and out each month and it changes the team so it's been difficult."

'If we manage to perform each Saturday over the course of the season then we will do well. It's a tough league and the top seven are only seperated by five points or so. "

'Christmas is just half-way through. We think if we manage to stay up top as long as possible, we may be in the play-offs by end of season and that will be a great success.'

Better luck next time then Darren!
