'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watching from the Comfort of My Front Room?

I loathe midweek matches! Midweek shift invariably mean I have no chance of reaching the match for half time let alone the kick-off.

Therefore, with Posh visiting Swindon last night, my only real option seeing as Posh being on television is about as rare as the proverbial rocking horse number two`s, was that magnificent invention - the radio.

Except there was a slight variation, I`d be listening to my radio feed through my computer whilst also tuning into the BBC text feed, just to keep abreast of events.

The system works well except for one fatal flaw.

For some strange reason the text feed is quicker than the radio feed. Therefore, you get to read about events before you actually listen to them, it`s a surreal feeling.

Perhaps no better illustrated than that magnificent last minute equaliser last night.

Sat in front of the PC, it flashed up on the automatic text feed and like a lunatic I punched the air and let out a banshee like scream. Seconds later the whole scenario was repeated as the radio commentary perfectly described (almost as if it were live) that very same goal.

Sad thing is, the wife was convinced we`d scored twice in the last few minutes and it took me an eternity to convince her we hadn`t but also that I hadn`t lost my sanity in following my wonderful Posh in such a strange way!
