Mind Games From Ferguson?

With Birmingham City rumoured to be a little more than keen to sign him, Craig Mackail-Smith would have done his chances of keeping that interest alive no harm at all yesterday.

A brace of goals took him into double figures for the season and only an offside decision deprived him of a hat trick.

However, Darren Ferguson has, in his post-match interview with the press, gave Craig a subtle reminder that he`s not yet the finished article suggesting that he should score more with the chances he gets.

Now this, as we see it, is a great piece of man-management.

Firstly, it keeps the young strikers feet firmly on the ground and implies that he could do better thereby encouraging him to work harder whilst, secondly, it just might throw a few seeds of doubt into the mind of Mr McCleish up at St Andrews, seeds that suggest he might not be the answer to his current problems.

Cute Darren, very cute!
